Satellite Clubs

Satellite clubs can help bridge the gap between school, college and community sport – and provide new opportunities for young people to get active. These clubs make it easier for young people to get active and stay active. They provide opportunities to take part regularly in sport and activity through the creation of enjoyable, appealing and convenient opportunities for young people that are based around their needs.

Objectives of Satellite Clubs

  • Providing positive experiences – creating enjoyable and fun experiences and reduce the number of young people having negative experiences of sport and physical activity
  • Behaviour change – helping young people aged 14-19 years become active and create regular activity habits
  • Influencing the sector – Active Devon supports sports clubs and physical activity providers in providing greater variety to meet the different motivations and needs of young people

“Active Devon works closely with a wide variety of delivery partners that have a real engagement with young people. We help them to establish new and sustainable Satellite Clubs and our team of local Development Coordinators support them to deliver consistently high quality and enjoyable experiences for their participants.”
