About Active Devon

Jason & the torch

Development Co-ordinator - Jason Wood

My role as Development Manager incorporates our commitment to school club links through our Satellite Club programme and to improving provision for inclusive groups through our Devon Opportunity Clubs.

I first started out at Active Devon as a Community Multi-skills Coach in 2005 -8, followed by Community Cricket Coach for a year within the East Devon region. Delivering sport in nearly every school in the East of the county gave me a unique insight into the importance of physical activity. During 2011-13 I was a disability officer for Active Devon and still have an interest in developing the sport of Table Cricket and the Ability Multisport programme across Devon.

One of the most rewarding parts of working for Active Devon is Event Managing the Ability Games and seeing hundreds of children taking part in sport and creating a Paralympic Legacy!  I also tutor around the county for Sports Coach UK.  In a previous life I represented East Devon at Cricket and played at club level for Honiton and Whimple. I also have a passion for rugby and tennis.

Most of my spare time is taken up with a busy family life but somehow seem to fit in being the Secretary and coach of Payhembury Tennis Club and driving a son around who plays cricket and rugby.
