Marketing & Business Support Assistant - Lucy Bowmer
I joined Active Devon in September 2014. My role as the Marketing and Business Support Assistant is based in Exeter. My role includes helping to promote and market sports activities, across the board in Devon. Previous, to this I had completed an Open University course in graphic design. This was when I decided I wanted to further my career path, in the creative design industry.
My previous roles include, a diverse range of roles from youth work, website design and graphic design.
I took the alternative route and gained as much work experience as possible after deciding that university was not for me. Since completing my Open University course I have always worked from my own initiative and like to keep busy. I wanted to build upon my skills and so I found some graphic design work experience at a local graphic design studio. I found this a great experience because I was able to work on some live projects and was able to be as creative as I wanted.
I am a keen explorer, and enjoy taking photographs of random and wacky items or landscapes. I relish learning new processes and in my spare time I am constantly reading informative magazines, to extend my knowledge in design and marketing. I am keen to expand my learning and hope, to maybe complete a marketing and design specific qualification. I own a ridiculous amount of graphic design and marketing reference books, my shelves are also stacked high with design orientated magazines. I never seem to have the time to read them but still feel I must buy them. I am known to be very, organised and maybe too much, sometimes.
I go to the gym 3 times a week and spinning classes, once a week. I like to keep active as much as possible, in my spare time. I feel this helps me to relax and to unwind and to have some creative thinking time.
