Fun and Celebrations at the Devon School Games #UnitedbyB2022 Swim Festival
This short film captures all the enjoyment had at the #UnitedbyB2022 Swim Festival held on the 4th July 2022.
The Swim Festival provided a brilliant opportunity for SEND students and primary school pupils to take part in a fun-filled and confidence building #UnitedbyB2022 themed event.
Hosted by Active Devon and the Devon School Games Organisers, the event took place in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games. United by Birmingham 2022 has been created to deliver the Commonwealth Games legacy of improving the health and wellbeing of young people nationwide. Active Devon and the Devon School Games Organisers are proud to have a role in this – working with schools across Devon to use the inspiration of the Commonwealth Games to give more young people positive experiences of school sport and physical activity.
Throughout the day the children were able to join in with the Swim Festival, as well as two other drop-in sessions – the #UnitedbyB2022 Creative Station and the #UnitedbyB2022 Dance Station. In addition to this, the children also got the opportunity to see The Queen’s Baton and meet Perry the B2022 mascot!
The Queen’s Baton relay route included dropping into the Swim Festival event, which played a huge part in the day’s celebrations. Our very own inspirational Devon Schools Games Young Ambassador, Tilly Robinson was selected as a Baton Bearer and Tilly took the Baton into the water during the Swim Festival, so the children could see the baton up close.
