New Appointment to the Active Devon Board

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Claire Gibson to our Board.

Claire is Head of Delivery at the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), a business-led partnership across public and private sectors which influences growth and prosperity across Devon and Somerset. She brings significant expertise in energy, climate change and the environment. As the LEP’s energy and net zero specialist, she sits on the Devon Climate Emergency Response Group and the Somerset Local Nature Partnership.

Claire started swimming at her local club from a young age and went on to compete at the Commonwealth Games. She said:

“As someone who was able to actively participate in sport at an early age, I am very aware of the life changing benefits it can bring. As well as representing my country, it was through sport that I met my husband and formed many lifelong friendships. I am really excited to be joining the Active Devon Board and to help the organisation unlock those benefits for many more people in Devon.”

Andy Martin, Active Devon’s Chair said:

“I am delighted about Claire’s appointment. She will bring a huge amount from both her professional and personal experiences and we’re delighted that another colleague of such calibre will be joining the Active Devon Board and helping us realise our ambitions.”

Matt Evans, Active Devon CEO, said:

“It’s fantastic to be welcoming Claire. She is a highly capable strategic leader with a depth of non-executive experience too. She also brings a hugely relevant set of professional expertise around the environment and carbon agenda which is an area of growing significance for our sector and the work of Active Devon. She is certain to be a huge asset to the Board and our mission.”

Claire takes up her appointment with immediate effect.
