Director (Strategic Relationships)

I love working towards an active society and believe in the value of sport in addressing inequality. I've previously worked in Public Health with the NHS and local government, and in social enterprises to include Jamie Oliver's Fifteen. I'm honoured to be a fellow of Clore social leadership and Windsor leadership. It's great to be with Active Devon as a Director of Strategic Relationships, a co-produced role with Sport England, integrating our work with local agendas for a healthier active Devon, and helping inform and support national sport strategy. I've played lots of local rugby and cricket and occasionally found surfing a long-board, running the odd half marathon or strumming a guitar.

Responsible for:

  • Key member of the Senior Leadership Team which is accountable for strategic leadership and execution of our Strategy. Includes engagement with key partners to secure commitment and alignment to Active Devon’s strategy and mission.
  • Strategic leadership and relationships for our work within the health sector, particularly on the prevention and social prescribing agendas and for place based work in Northern Devon.
  • This is a shared role with Sport England and part of a pilot of eight similar roles nationwide. It therefore has specific remit and accountability for strengthening the relationship between national policy / decision making and local priorities.

I wrote a song that made unofficial top 10 of ‘tunes to make you happy’ in South Asia.
